Brief Biographical Sketch:

Hi, I'm Leela! I'm originally from New Jersey and came to Stanford 4 years ago to study psychology, poetry, and gender studies -- now I'm sticking around for a master's degree in communications and media. Broadly, I am interested in how people relate to one another and themselves, particularly through words and storytelling. After my master's, I am unsure which path I would like to pursue next, but right now I am considering becoming a poetry or communications educator to inspire emotional connections and continue to pass on my love of language.

H6640: Identity and Spoken Word Poetry in Splash Fall 2018 (Dec. 01 - 02, 2018)
This class will be a creative writing workshop in which the students will read poems and watch spoken word videos on different topics, then discuss with one another what aspects of the poems resonated with them (or what didn't!). After each topic, the students will write their own poems and share with the class, encouraging each other's writing.
