Brief Biographical Sketch:
I am a pre-med student pursuing a profession in psychiatry. My primary interests are pediatric psychopathology and neurology. Outside of my academic pursuits, I am a classical singer involved in vocal performance at Stanford. I'm pumped to be able to share my love of science with you all - come and chat with me! Ever heard of Mad Cow Disease? Kuru? Prion Diseases are rare, incurable, and almost entirely fatal. Starting with a misfolded protein that goes rogue and induces misfolding in other proteins, PD wreaks havoc on the nervous system of humans and animals. This course is a beginner-friendly look into the biochemistry of Prion Disease and its implications for health. Familiarity with basic chemistry/biology is useful, but not required.
