S3856: Landmark Supreme Court Cases: The Human Stories in Splash Fall 2014 (Nov. 08 - 09, 2014)
This class will explore applications of the 14th Amendment to two landmark Supreme Court cases: Gideon v. Wainwright, which laid the groundwork for the public defense system, and Loving v. Virginia, which legalized interracial marriage. In the process, we will learn the touching stories of the extraordinary individuals behind the cases and discover how these narratives contribute to our American identity.
