Brief Biographical Sketch:
I am a mechanical-engineer-turned-scientist, fascinated by the way the cells and tissues in our body cooperate to give rise to the beautiful complexity of life! I am excited about using engineering tools to understand biology and improve human health. Past Classes(Clicking a class title will bring you to the course's section of the corresponding course catalog)S7831: Forces that shape us: Intro to Mechanobiology in Splash Spring 2023 (May. 20 - 21, 2023)
How does your skin repair itself after a cut? How do immune cells crawl through your body to reach an infection? How does the increased stiffness of tumors contribute to cancer spreading?
These are just some of the questions that the growing field of mechanobiology tries to answer!
Come learn how cells push and pull on the soft and squishy tissues in our bodies, and how physical forces and material properties shape and influence our biology in important ways.
