ANDREINA PARISI-AMON, Stanford grad student with a passion for education

Brief Biographical Sketch:
Andreina recently completed her PhD in Bioengineering at Stanford University, focusing on the development of engineered protein biomaterials for three dimensional cell culture and cell transplantation therapies. Currently she is a Partnership Manager at Coursera, helping to bring quality education all over the world! Outside of work she is involved with outreach and mentoring programs, coupling her science background and passion for education to promote participation and enjoyment of science with middle and high school students. She co-developed a summer course on college-application writing for high school students at the Boys and Girls, assisted in the development of a graduate-level Bioengineering course, and was involved in planning the second Engineering Education Colloquium as president of the Stanford chapter of ASEE. Throughout her undergraduate career Andreina taught a self-designed Spanish class at the local middle school and spent a summer developing lesson plans and teaching math to 8th grade students requiring an extra boost before high school. Andreina grew up in Pittsburgh, PA where she attended The Ellis School, an independent girls’ preparatory school. She holds a BS in Biomedical Engineering from Duke University and a MS in Bioengineering from Stanford University. In her free time, Andreina likes undertaking new challenges, and recently competed in her first sprint triathlon.
